A Good Communication: A Necessity

One of the basic prerequisites in child training is the power of communication. Do not create a communication barrier for any reason between you and your child, do not nag about any issue between you and your child, it is expected of you to terminate sarcastic comments which serve only to alienate further. You can go for an occasional face-to-face confrontation rather than indulge in a series of gibes or bursts of heated discussion. More so, praise your child when necessary, though it may be difficult to find anything you can praise in the child. This will build bridges between you and will take some of the wind of bad behaviour out of his soul. Talk normally even if there is no response from him or you feel rejected. Let him know the parameters within which to operate and, outside of which can result to discipline.
More importantly, consistent and unconditional love with prayer of faith will definitely bring down the desired miracles. As a parent you'll need to be available for your children because raising up a child requires quality time. Discipline, prayer and love is indispensable in child training.
Communicate the right words to your child at the right time. Teach them how to talk humbly and not to be lousy in their talk, too much talking is bad; teach them when to talk and when not to talk.
It is good for a child to be able to express his/herself clearly without grumbling, crying or shouting when discussing with his/her parent but this virtue has to be imbibed in the child right from his childhood by their parent.

It’s More than Just Growing

There are a lot of parent who have the view that children grow up whether anybody looks after them or not, though they do but tell me what type of adult do such children become thereafter? They become a shame to their parent, nuisance to the community and the society at large, they are the prostitutes we see all about in our streets, vandals, hoodlums, hooligans, street boys and the likes, and if any should die in such a condition he spent the rest of his life eternally in hell. As a good parent you are expected to train up your child in a responsible way so that he can become a responsible person in the later future. God himself will not spare any parent who neglects the training of his or her children.

Parents who want their children to be responsible ones should be available and active for them and the work of child training must commence right from the time they were given birth to, you are expected to feed them with balance diet, show love and affection to them, bath and cloth them appropriately and try to attend to all their needs, you’re to labor laboriously in order to ensure an all round development for your child.

In the training of your child don’t just play the role of a nurse, also be a teacher, counsellor and a guide, teach him the virtues of love, temperance, respect for others, patience, orderliness, comportment, self-control and also self-denial, when the child starts growing up accrue him responsibilities that is appropriate for his or her age while you monitor, instruct, and correct him when necessary.

One very important aspect you have to instill in your child is the fear for God, this is of utmost importance, tell him in a clear language that children needs the savior for them to be free from the curse of this world and to avoid eternal damnation in hell fire, prove to him the way of life by living an exemplary life and you must also maintain a close relationship with God Almighty because this is the basic requirement you need to be a good parent and to have a good mother’s heart.

It’s in Your Hand

You as a parent must do all what it take to bring up your child in a Godly way; majority of the evils prevalent in our society today is as result of poor handling and upbringing of the children by their parent.

The behavior and the way of life of children of nowadays is nothing to write home about, what is actually the major cause of our children who walk away half-naked on our streets today, the rudeness and the incorrigible lifestyle adopted by our children today are as a result of what? They have lost all sense of decency and respectability. All these actually emerge from our various homes. All these are borne as a result of poor training of the children by their parent and we can even see some parent indulging in such practices. The blind cannot lead the blind, it is not possible.

For some years back things were not as it is now, children dare not behave un-seemingly before the eyes of their parent let alone to imitate the culture of nudity that has become the trend in our society today.

You may be thinking that things has change, we are now living in a modernize world, you guess right! But tell me, is that not why we are experiencing the various forms of atrocity and the different levels and categories abomination prevalent in our society today.

Modernism and the ways children are brought up today has done more good than harm, as a result many parent are being sent to their graves by their own children. They are uncontrollable and they have no respect at all for their parent.

Things have really fallen apart. I must confess. But things can still be change for the better, parent must do all things possible to get themselves enlisted in this army of change. We must do all things possible to bring up our children rightfully and the work must start within our immediate family circle and then the larger society will be ultimately changed for the better.

The Role of mother in child training is indispensable

Motherhood is the greatest vocation in the world this tells you how serious it is. Be aware that great men in the past were once a child in the hand of their mother. Careful study of these great men reveals that they heard good mothers. As mothers we must ensure that we continuously look for ways to develop our relationship with our children. We must provide our children the necessary guidance and discipline when it s necessary for us to do so. We must endeavor to sit them down in order to find out what is really going in their mind. This is necessary because when a child reaches puberty she starts to develop and discover her identity, they go through emotional and psychological identity crisis which tends to make them to question and challenge established norms.
As such a period they begin to seek for help and direction from their parents but how do you ratify this if you are the type that has not been creating room for questions and answers, therefore you must develop a good friendship and conversation with them.

The Heart of a Child: A Tabular Rassa

The heart of a child is a Tabula Rassa, which means that every new born baby comes into this world with clean mind. But the heart cannot be kept empty, something must fill it up, here comes the opportunity for every parent to write the word of God into the heart of these children before the devil takes advantage of them.
The heart of the children must be trained to love the Lord wholeheartedly and must not allow their lifestyle to be influenced by the tradition of men.

Your Responsibility as a Parent
Parents must lay a firm and solid foundation for their children by;
1. Praying for them during Pregnancy
2. Scriptures should be read to the children
3. Parent can give their children names after great Bible characters e.g. Evangelist, Prayer Worrior, and Pastor.
4. Pictures of bible characters and their virtue can be placed in strategic places in the house
5. Parent should lead an exemplary life
6. Parent should endeavor to lead each child to Christ

What is Expected of Parent to teach their Children
Parent should teach their children righteous living in this polluted and wretched world. Children must be thought not to mingle themselves with the affairs of this world as such could incur God’s judgment and eternal perdition in the lake of fire.
Children need a lot of love, care and attention. Children are very inquisitive, they want to know, it is best of us as parent to proffer answers to their question, counsel and guide rather than burying ourselves into our jobs, television programmes or other thing.
Good books and pictures, good music, calendars with Christian’s pictures should fill our home to guide the child.
Strategic Rules in Breading up Good Children
1. Don’t give the Child all he wants, even though it is in your reach to do so, subject him/her to a reasonable level of hardship.
2. Frown and rebuke him when you discover from him something that does not belong to him.
3. Don’t leave out spiritual training in training up your child, install in him the fear of God
4. When he litter up the floor ask him to pick them and make the environment tidy. Do not do it for him.
5. Watch out on the book he reads; make sure they don’t corrupt his mind.
6. Don’t get quarrel in the presence of your child.
7. When he get in to trouble with his neighbor or teacher don’t apologize for him let him face the punishment
8. Don’t give him all the money he needs to buy all he wants.
9. Don’t allow him always in watching TV or home video, it distract him.
10. Tell him he is wrong, when he’s wrong, correct him don’t pamper him.

Like Begets Like

Like beget Like. There is a factor in the genes of living things that ensures that the characteristics of parent are transferred to their offspring. The same resemblance pattern goes in parent-child relationship.
Ungodly parent raise ungodly children except God work out their salvation through other means.
The same thing goes for godly parent, they raise up God fearing children if they give the salvation of their children all the attention and efforts it demands of it. Your child will definitely take after you as a parent so your lifestyle must be worthy of acceptation if you want your children own to be.
You as a parent must have a definite encounter before God and once you are saved your character is reformed, your world view is adjusted, your mind is renewed, and your life transformed it is then that you’ll be able to hold the lamb for your child to see the way of life too.
J.C. Ryle summarizes it all with this cogent exhortation: Take care, then what you do before a child.
A proverb says “Who sins before a child, sins double”
Be an example in temper, in diligence, in temperance, in humility and in God’s Word.
